So for the better part of the last two years I, like many others around the world, have been in a fragile mental state. The death of my brother compounded my depression and anxiety with a deep sea of grief. The war on Ukraine, among a plethora of other social issues and I have been riding the Hot Mess Express™ for entirely too long.
But guys, I have LOST IT. I want to scream and brake shit. Republicans in the US are so blind with their cognitive dissonance that I cannot stand it anymore. I used to want to believe that they were just misled intelligent people but I cannot believe that any longer. They are stupid. I am past the name-calling justifications. The threat against Roe is a direct attack on not only uterine-owning persons, but every single one of us and they are too stupid to realize it, no matter how many facts you can show them. Many times, you’ll see posts and tiktoks and articles that directly quote and link and screenshot the proposition or whatever point that you’re trying to make and they just flat out ignore it. It is near impossible to talk sense into these people. Sinlge-issue voting is detrimental to our society!
What’s not up for debate is the fact that capitalism is rooted in racism and slavery. If you can’t see that modern day America is just a massive justification to enslave us all legally, I can’t help you. Capitalism. Is. Slavery. Paying the people who do the hardest and most work the least and paying the people sitting at the top literal billions with a B, which is a number so large that it is not possible for the human mind to wrap around it. Lets face it, we may as well say infinity because neither of those two numbers are attainable to 99 percent of the population. Literally.
What’s not up for debate is the fact that capitalism relies on all of us little worker ants down here on the bottom to bust our asses so that the billionaires can thrive. Our population growth has decreased astronomically to just 0.1% in 2021. Last year, our US population grew by less than a million people, which is the lowest number we have seen in the history of the Census Bureau! So of course these big corporations are worried about losing their little worker ants on the bottom. The boomers are retiring and millennials aren’t supplying replacements at an adequate rate anymore, so they lobby and pay off the right politicians to get Roe overturned to force people to have unplanned pregnancies. They need more worker ants to hit their sales goals so that they get to keep the billions.
What’s not up for debate is the fact that those politicians and corporate pooh-bahs know that people will still get unsafe abortions. They know that there are several states with trigger laws criminalizing abortion. They know that making abortion and miscarriage – and even IVF and IUDs in some states – felonies will cause many many women and doctors to lose their right to vote. They don’t want any of us to vote. This is merely step one. They know that helping immigrants come here would solve the population growth problem. But they can’t do that now can they? No, they can’t do that because that would decrease the ratio of white voters and tip the scale more liberal.
What’s not up for debate is the fact that they know that millennials and gen z are the most educated generations. They deliberately pay us less to keep us stuck. They are trying to backpedal our education system by threatening to take certain books out of schools and not teach history as it actually happened, and instead give kids this sugar coated version to ensure that our kids are sheeple like the boomers were happy to be. They basically forced us to go to college because many jobs today require a degree, but then don’t pay us shit because bigwig needs to hit 7 billion this year. They don’t want to offset our college debt because debt keeps us enslaved to this system of oppression, especially when its tied to your job. Just about 1 in 10 people are able to support themselves without government assistance.
What’s not up for debate is the fact that they are refusing to give us free healthcare because they know there would be a mass-exodus of employees because they have been treating us all like shitbags for decades. We haven’t had a choice but to stay enslaved to their systems of oppression because it is mandatory to have insurance, and we have to have a [corporate] job to have insurance. They tie every basic human need to our job so that our choices are: be a slave to the big man, starve, or go to jail.
What’s not up for debate is the fact that BIPOC are at a much higher disadvantage than white people in these systems of oppression because they have the added status of being minorities which have, and continue to live in a socio/political climate that is oppressive, discriminatory, racist, unjust, and unsafe. If you think it is hard enough to thrive as a white human, imagine how hard it is as a BIPOC when you are feeling regularly unsafe, singled out, subtly or overtly attacked, or unable to access the resources and opportunities you need and deserve.
What’s not up for debate is the fact that they know that overturning Roe and subsequent rulings like Griswold v Connecticut – which are more about our right to privacy from the government and not all about abortion – will cause trigger laws to go into effect. Some states are already proposing bills to outlaw birth control, and that will affect men. I don’t know about you, but I will NOT be sleeping with a man who could get me pregnant without protection. I don’t want any more babies. It could also implicate that the government can decide if you get vaccinated without your consent. They could also overturn Lawrence v Texas which protects LGBTQIA+. They could overturn Loving v Virginia which protects interracial marriage (hey, that’s me!). They could overturn Obergefell v. Hodges which protects same-sex marriage. Mayor v Nebraska which protects our right to teach our children foreign languages (ope, me again). They could overturn Skinner v Oklahoma which protects prisoners, anyone deemed as a deviant, and the disabled from forced sterilization. All of these rulings were made on the basis of our constitutional right to privacy, just like Roe.
And if you don’t think they’ll take it that far, think again. These politicians absolutely will take your rights from you too.
