Captain’s Log: Day 2,149

The past several weeks – maybe more like a month – have been full of busy schedules for all of us. The end of Sylas’ first year of school, wedding planning and my family visiting along with just enjoying the beginnings of our summer. On Sylas’ last day of school the kids went to the park and had a picnic lunch, so Javier and I took the little ones there to meet them. He was so excited that he got to ride on the school bus. It was down to the wire for my brother’s wedding so helping with last minute details and being their photographer kept me pretty busy. While the week of the wedding was full of that, it was also full of family visits. My mom’s sister and family came to stay and visit as well. Amalia’s first birthday is fast approaching, so I decided that it would be a good time to take some birthday portraits of her. I did a little milk bath shoot along with some photos outside. Memorial weekend was the actual wedding ceremony quickly followed by Memorial Day. We spent the day at our friend’s house swimming in their pool and having a barbecue. It was nice getting our kids together for a play day. In between all of those notable events, we had park days and lazy days planned too.

I think that what made the month of May feel so much more busy for me was the fact that I worked three weekends in a row until the wedding. Between vacation conflicts and someone  quitting last minute, I ended up working the first three weekends of the month. I’m a little more than wore out. Stressed and angry to be honest. But I think I’ll save that for its own post. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the photo montage of this past month.
