It never ceases to amaze me how quickly this time goes by with little ones. Amalia is officially nine months old! She is ever-changing these days it seems – well except for her petite size. She can still wear 0-3 month onesies, 3-6/6 month pants and size 2 diapers but somehow can wear a 9-12 month tee shirt. Riddle me that. She crawls everywhere, can pull up on furniture and has started learning how to sit back down after she stands. She follows me everywhere and is pretty much constantly on my hip, which gets hard sometimes when I have things that need done – thank goodness for babywearing. She babbles a lot; mama, dada, nana, baba along with a slew of other sounds and raspberry noises. This girl is a foodie. She LOVES to eat just about anything. I can’t even cut my food up until she has been fed all of her puree or she has finger food at her disposal. Don’t even think about putting her in the high chair until you have the food ready because she has a giant fit until she’s got something in her mouth. She likes scrambled eggs, diced avocado, fruit cups (I drain the juice so she can pick it up), puff snacks, yogurt – both the freeze dried and spoon-fed, macaroni and cheese, pizza, peanut butter sandwiches, pudding the list could go on and on. She is a great napper most days. She is an expert self-soother which is astounding to me as neither of the boys could ever do that. I can simply put her in the swing, fully awake, turn on some white noise and give her a pacifier. I usually have her in our bedroom with the door closed so that she is close enough to peek in on her but still has a quiet space to nap. Her little personality is coming out so much. She can have a nice little tantrum when she doesn’t get her way sometimes – see the foodie section of this post. She smiles so cute whenever you meet her eyes and she does a sort of sniffing sound at the same time while scrunching her nose and her eyes up. She has learned how to show how big she is and can wave bye-bye and high-five – but only high fives with her Daddy. She gets so excited to see momma come through the door after work and immediately crawls over as fast as she can. She loves to pull hair too. Beware of beards and wearing your hair down because she loves to yank on it by the handful. She doesn’t like hats or bows on her head and tries her hardest to get the socks off of her feet. I’ve had to resort to higher socks so that they stay on better – we can’t wait for summer, barefoot and diapered haha.
It’s hard to believe that in three short months we will have a big birthday girl on our hands!
