Sorry I’m a day late! Yesterday I had a lot of catching up to do on the laundry pile and housework that I didn’t have time to post. This week Little Brother is the size of an eggplant and about 2 1/4 pounds. He must have turned last night because today I have noticed that he is breech. He hasn’t been breech for quite some time. I usually feel his little feet running along the bottom of my ribs (joys of pregnancy) but today his head is there instead and his feet are doing a little jive on top of my cervix (ouch). Hopefully he will turn back over tonight while I sleep. Sylas did this same thing around the same time and it was uncomfortable. Its hard to explain but it just feels like that isn’t how he is meant to be situated in there. I got a call from my doctor’s office last Friday that I did indeed fail the 3 hour glucose test. So I have been testing my sugar at home the past few days and I really don’t think that I have GD (gestational diabetes). My fasting levels are always in the lower 80’s and two hour post are 129 or under (129 is my highest reading so far). I purposefully ate a huge carb meal yesterday and tested at 2 hours and 129 was all the higher it was. I also did a little experiment and tested at one hour and two hour for a meal and got 144 and 110 respectively. My numbers look really good to me (keep in mind I’m a med tech and I interpret these results for a living). They are a little higher than someone without diabetes but I’m also pregnant and my body needs the little bit of extra to feed my growing baby. I’m going to talk to my doctor about my findings at my appointment next Wednesday. We will see what he says but I might stop taking my sugars daily after that. I don’t eat unhealthily and honestly, I don’t eat a whole lot. I got an app for my phone to track my diet and glucose levels. Its called HEALTHeDiabetes, if anyone wants to try it out. Its not just for diabetes and could be useful for just diet tracking also. It asks you personal information like age, weight, height, gender and activity level (I put mine on the lowest setting just to see what it would say even though I work on my feet all day). After it has all of your information, it calculates how many carbs, calories and exercise your body should need in a day to maintain, gain or lose weight (you can tell it those preferences also). I have yet to exceed my daily carb limit and only exceeded my meal carb limit once (the day I did my little experiment). I don’t think there’s much else I can do diet and exercise wise to help my sugars be any better than they already are. I will let you know what he says at my appointment and I want to do a post about my findings a little further into detail, but I think I will wait until I speak with him.
